About Cathy

After teaching elementary school for several years, my thoughts drifted to murder and in 2001, my first novel, Every Wickedness was published by Doubleday Canada. It was nominated for an Arthur Ellis Award for best first crime novel and supposedly had people who take blood thinners very worried. My second thriller, Some Reason in Madness, was published in 2004.
Critics have claimed that I "write a slick, straightforward tale" with a "sinuous plot as my stories gallop to a climax." Though I've been described as a writer who "shows a talent for great gore," I have a very soft spot for animals (and I like people, too). I spend quality time with my two cats, Spike and Arthur. I deeply miss the company of the four felines no longer with me--Sherlock, Watson, Moriarty and Holmes, each one holding a special place in my heart.
When not writing, you can find me on the ski slopes, in the audience at a rock concert or struggling to stay upright on in-line skates. Travel always beckons, but when I'm close to home, you'll catch me in my kitchen with a glass of wine, or out on the back patio hand-feeding chipmunks. I've been known to dance as if no one is watching, and I'm never too tired for a game of cards.
I credit my late father with giving me a love of music and the curiosity to solve puzzles of all kinds. My late mother gets a standing ovation for blessing me with an appreciation for nature and the gift of storytelling.
I give my husband an A+ for being the best partner on life's exciting journey.
