Reviews for The Monitor

"If ever a book was to be put into the "couldn't put it down" category, then this one would leap in and soar to the top of the list. Vasas-Brown is a simply outstanding writer. This book is uber-compelling and keeps you spellbound and guessing to the very, very end. I really can't wait for the next book."  Cath 'n' Kindle Book Reviews

"There's something almost soul-cleansing about a really good psychological thriller. Cathy Vasas-Brown doesn't write good psychological thrillers, she writes great psychological thrillers. The Monitor is a stunning read that simply cannot be put down. With each twist and turn, The Monitor is a brilliant story." Reviews for Safe as Churches

June 11, 2013 By June Amazon Verified Purchase. This review is from: Safe as Churches (Kindle Edition) This is the first Cathy Vasas-Brown book I have read and I do look forward to reading more of her books, especially the follow up to this book.
I found Cathy's insight into the effect of phone sex very interesting. It was a book I had to keep reading to find out what would happen next. I also enjoyed the unexpected twist at the end of the story.

"Right from the get-go, Vasas-Brown's storytelling seizes you like a compulsion."  Rick Mofina, bestselling                              author of Into the Dark

A four-star review from Tammy Dewhirst:
"Vasas-Brown brings us an outstanding baddie. The True Gentleman goes in my pantheon of favorite                                     baddies next to John Sandford’s Michael Bekker from “Eyes of Prey” and “Silent Prey.” Narcissistic,                                         psychotic, bone chillingly evil - the True Gentleman is all of that and more, the sort of person that you                                 hope doesn’t exist in daily life.
“Safe as Churches” is tightly plotted and written with a professional hand. The work sings of                                                  professional editing though Vasas-Brown was a teacher in her professional life so may well have the                                     skill to self-proof. The story is ever moving and is compellingly alive. Vasas-Brown builds the tension                                   to a stunning climax. If you like thrillers, pick this one up today."

"This is outstanding.  Brilliantly structured, brilliantly written.  A very classy, sophisticated, heart-                                           in-your-mouth thriller.  The scene is set around the phone-sex business and highlights how dreadfully
and appallingly wrong things can go when protocol is breached.  This is one of those thrillers that
ticks every single box."  An Indies Unlimited favourite for 2013

Reviews for Every Wickedness

Picture
"All of the elements--the beautifully made plot, the vivid characterization, the dialogue that jumps off the page--are brought together in a solidly satisfying story told at a perfect pace right up to the gripping climax.  Vasas-Brown seems to have been born knowing how: her debut novel announces that she's here to stay."  Eric Wright

"Vasas-Brown's debut novel is a slick, straightforward tale."  The National Post

"The research is dropped in seamlessly and never slows the story down."  Glenn Farrar, for Quill and Quire

"In the tradition of James Patterson and John Sandford ... There is no shortage of books dealing with serial                       killers on the loose, but Every Wickedness rises above the rest, with first-rate characterization and action.                        Her style for a first time author is impeccable, and the ability to manipulate the reader with plot                             twists and turns is the sign of a great author.  The reader gets inside the mind of the killer and his victims.                        If this is any indication of her talent, Vasas-Brown will become Canada's serial killer thriller queen."  Shelf                       Life

"Vasas-Brown is one of those unique mystery novices.  With all the panache of a pro, she has crafted a                            wicked (read, beautifully written) tale of a San Francisco serial killer."  The Ottawa Citizen

"Wonderful ....This book has everything that I enjoy: likeable characters, a serial killer, a terrific location                            and a compelling plot... when will the next book be out?"  Staff pick of Sleuth of Baker Street bookstore,                        Toronto

"A wicked good read!"  The London Free Press

"The sinuous plot has readers looking out for the protagonist every step of the way and guessing at the                             outcome as the story gallops to a climax.  A very satisfying read."  The Chronicle-Herald, Halifax

"This is a  slick and commercial debut novel.  It shows a writer with real talent."  Margaret Cannon, The                             Globe and Mail

"Some Reason in Madness is intriguing and powerful."  The London Free Press

"This clenching crime thriller doesn't let you go.  The book grips you so tightly that your fingernails will leave indentations in the pages.  Before opening this book, lock the doors and keep the lights on."                                 Hamilton Magazine

"Some Reason in Madness is filled with suspense.  It is paced superbly, with just the right tension at                                the right time.  The ending is sheer genius."  Shelf Life
